Smashed Crispy Yams With The Salted Rooster Chicken Salt

Introduction: Looking for a satisfying crunch while avoiding the snack food aisle? This Smashed Crispy Yams recipe is a great way to get that crunch in with easy-to-grab pantry staples. Not only are yams packed with nutrients, but this recipe also brings out their natural sweetness while adding a savory, crispy texture. Perfect as a side dish or a snack, these smashed yams will surely be a hit at any meal.

Ingredients:

1 nicely sized yam.

4 tbsp olive oil

6 garlic cloves

The Salted Rooster Chicken Salt, to taste

Have some parchment paper handy

Instructions:

  1. Wash your yam and then cut into smaller cubes.
  2. Set your oven to 160C/350F.
  3. Boil your cubes until they’re tender.
  4. Break out a glass and then cover the bottom of it with parchment paper. We will then break out a baking tray and then “smash” your cubes onto it with our glass/parchment paper contraption.
  5. Mix your olive oil, garlic, and chicken salt (a teaspoon or two should do) and then brush them on your smashed yams.
  6. Bake for roughly 30-50 minutes. The baking time will vary depending on the size of your smashed yams, so start checking them after 30 minutes.
  7. Enjoy!
